About
Catherine Velosa is a Los Angeles-based designer specializing in costume and costume creation for film, commercials and videos. Known for her unique artistic background, multilingual proficiency, and meticulous attention to detail, she brings directors' visions to life with passion and creativity. Her ability to work internationally, including within the European Union, adds to her versatility in the global entertainment industry.
Catherine earned her B.A form the University of San Francisco and further honed her artistic skills while pursuing an M.F.A at the California College of the Arts. During this time, she developed expertise in painting, sculpting and textiles, alongside designing costumes for lavish events and crafting intricate window displays for art and beauty stores.
After graduation, Catherine began her career as the Head Costume Designer at the International Company ClubMed, where her talent caught the attention of filmmakers Eshom and Ian Nelms. In 2013, they enlisted her to work on their feature film Lost on Purpose, starring Jane Kaczmarek, C. Thomas Howell, and James Lafferty. The film garnered multiple awards at film festivals across the U.S., marking a pivotal moment in Catherine’s career.
This experience sparked her love for entertainment production. Catherine went on to collaborate with director Cameron Watson on the comedic web series Break a Hip, featuring celebrated talents like Allison Janney, Octavia Spencer, Christina Pickles, and Carol Cook. Her work earned her a nomination for Best Costume Design at the International Filmmakers Festival in London.
